What this test checks

This test requests microphone input and displays the changing signal level detected by the browser while you speak or make a sound.

How to interpret results

A level bar that responds to quiet and loud sounds confirms that audio reaches the browser. A constantly full meter suggests excessive gain or noise; no movement suggests the wrong input, muted hardware, or blocked permission.

Limitations

The meter is not a calibrated sound-pressure measurement and does not judge recording quality, latency, frequency response, or how the microphone will sound after another app processes it.

Troubleshooting

Allow microphone permission, unmute the device, choose the correct input, raise system input gain gradually, close apps holding the microphone, and test again without Bluetooth or USB adapters if possible.
